The high tension steel is composed of at most 0.15 wt.% C, at most 0.3 wt.% Si, 2.0-5.0 wt.% Mn, 6.0-12.0 wt.% Ni, 0.8-2.5 wt.% Al, 1.5-4.0 wt.% Mo, 4.0-6.0 wt.% Cr, 0.8-1.5 wt.% Cu, residual Fe and impurities. The steel ignot is produced by hot-working the steel, heating it per 25 m thickness at 830-900 deg.C for 20-40 min., cooling it in the air, and hardening it at 470-530 deg.C for 5 hr or more. The steel has a good toughness and strength.
