The anti-skid system for vehicle wheels (10) comprises a tyre (11) on a rim (12). On the tyre periphery is a detachable anti-skid chain (20). These guides are provided with means of preventing torsion between them and the radial arms during contact between ground and wheel. A mount (70) for automatically placing and maintaining the chain on the wheel periphery, comprises an elastic tension part (71) and hooks (72) for fixing it to the rim.
