The refuse-compacting equipment has a press yoke (3) moving up and down on a guide (2). This is actuated by a pedal (11) or hand lever (12), and forces the refuse into a container or a sack protected by a press-casing (7). There can be a counterweight (10) holding the yoke in a desired position, the two being guided by the same profiled component (2). A further counterweight (9) can be provided, aiding extraction of the casing from the filled sack and fitting of an empty one over it. ADVANTAGE - Hygeinic operation, requiring no electric power.
