High temperature process unit for e.g. annealing, burning, melting or sintering has an upright reactor (1) with an esp. cylindrical oven chamber (6), a lance torch (8) in the upper part of the chamber, a heating gas supply, a gas outlet and at least one feed opening (14) with a conveyor (16) for the goods to be processed. The feed openings are arranged tangentially in the side walls of the oven chamber (6). A funnel-shaped outlet (20) at the base of the chamber opens into a controllable bucket wheel discharge section (21) which empties into an outlet line (25) having a high power blower (26) at one extremity. The rotational speed of the bucket wheel (22) is adjustable corresponding to the supply speed of the conveyor (16). At least two supply and delivery bunkers (17,17') are positioned along transport-blower line (16). Just before the bunker region (14), the conveyor line (16) has a narrowed section (14') to accelerate the air speed. One or more pilot burners (30) are located near the feed opening (14). ADVANTAGE - The removal of large amounts of combustion products from the oven chamber is facilitated.
