The device has a piston (3) movably guided in a flow direction of fluid, and loaded opposite to the flow direction in an elastic manner. An annular gap is formed between a seat surface (13) and a downstream side of the piston, where gap width of the annular gap is reduced during displacement of the piston in the flow direction. A slow-down chamber is arranged downstream of the annular gap. A damping unit (20) permits limited discharging of the fluid in cross section at the downstream end of the slow-down chamber.
