Compsns. for application to the inside of the cornea to protect the retina from UV radiation during a cataract operation are solns. contg. a UV absorber (I). USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsns. protect the retina from damage by UV radiation emitted by the microscope light source after the lens has been removed. Risk of damage is stated to be less than when a UV filter is incorporated in the microscope filter attachment.
