A lighting unit (15) contg. light sources emitting the three primary colours, is combined with a modular electronic control to enable a continously variable light intensity (13,14) and colour mix (16,17) to be achieved. A central digital controller (10) containing function generator (23) and memory (22) is capable of responding to sound (11) and optical (12) pattern sensors and can also transmit/receive signals to/ from receiver (20) activated by cordless keyboard (18). In conjunction with servo unit (21) the orientation of lights (15), lenses, mirrors and optical grids in mixing/output units (16,17) can be varied to programme or other command. USE/ADVANTAGE - Entertainment, disco, stage, leisure, business, showroom and display lighting. Enables wide variety of lighting effects in response to stored programme, random control or optical/ acoustic pattern recognition.
