System for spacing esp. the working rollers in a quatro-rolling stand, which are provided with deflection or counterbalancing devices, or both, has the novelty of a spacer (31) which holds the installation parts (10,10') for the working rollers at a fixed distance when the rollers are changed. The spacer is freely movable in a guide sunk into one or both installation parts (10,10'). More specifically in each installation part, two guides run approximately in the centre of the roller gap and parallel to the roller axis with spacers in each guide such that the length (L) of the guide at least corresponds to that of the roller's displacement path (Y). ADVANTAGE - The mechanism for facilitating changing rollers is simplified and damage to new rollers during their installation is prevented.
