HYDROPHOBIC AGENTS AND APPLICATION METHOD, ESPECIALLY FOR INK JET PRINT HEADS

A novel water repellent agent for the surface treatment especially of ink-jet printing heads is proposed which contains, as its active agent, a silane in which an at least partly fluorinated organic group is bonded to the silicon via a saturated radical. Besides at least one substitutable initial group the silane may also carry other alkyl radicals. The water repellent agent, which is suitable for various surfaces, is applied to the surface to be treated in the liquid or gas phase and produces a long-lasting repellent action against organic solvents as well.
