Procedure for composting in containers - household and similar refuse is graded and composted in containers which can be stacked to provide effective and transportable system

The waste material, pref. graded to remove particle below 15mm and above 150mm in size, and possibly contg. sewage sludge and vegetable matter, is placed in rectangular containers which are stacked in a composting chamber. Tubular supports for the containers are provided and are used to convey air from an air supply source to the interiors of the lower parts of the containers. A vent pipe is provided on either side of each container near its upper edge, and the containers are fitted with covers in which devices for moistening their contents are provided. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in the treatment of household and similar refuse by grading and composting, possibly with the addn. of sewage sludge, so as to facilitate disposal or further use. The proposed method improves the effectiveness of the system and renders it more transportable.
