The powered circular handsaw has a housing (10) and guard which enclose the blade (1) except for the working aperture. The blade and electrical drive assembly are pivoted relative to the housing about the axis (33) so that the blade can be lowered through the bottom plate (21) to the required depth of cut. This is done by rotating the disk (37, 30), which causes the pin (38) to move in slot (39) and force the blade and drive assembly downwards against the spring (44). The shaft of the disk (37, 30) extends through the housing and forms part of an adjusting twist grip which also serves as the principal hand grip for guiding the saw in the cut. USE/ADVANTAGE - High safety in operation of depth of cut is easily and positively adjustable during cutting.
