The sensor for an electrical hygrometer consists of at least one carrier or substrate (8) carrying a moisture-dependent electrical resistance film (4). The substrate and/or film consists at least partially of a hydrophilic material. The hydrophilic material causes a change in the electrically effective density and/or dimensions of the resistive film on absorbing water. This causes the resistance of the film to be moisture dependent. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple and economical to manufacture and ensures high degree of accuracy.
