The anti-theft device for fitting to a road or water vehicle uses a blocking valve (10) inserted between the fuel filter and the fuel injection pump in the case of a Diesel engine and between the fuel pump and the carburettor or the fuel injection system in the case of a petrol engine. The blocking valve is operated via a spindle (5) and is spring biased into the closed position. The setting motor (2) for operating the spindle (5) is controlled by a security circuit (12), with attempted external tampering causing a short-circuit for preventing operation of the setting motor (2). Pref. the ignition light is coupled to the setting motor (2) and remains extinguished as long as the blocking valve (10) is in the closed position. ADVANTAGE - Blocks unauthorised running of engine of road or marine vehicle.
