Direction-stabilised binocular telescope - has prism pairs between each ocular and lens with rotation drives controlled by acceleration sensors detecting body movements
Each barrel has a lens and ocular lens systems with prism pairs lying between them, half overlapping and mutually perpendicularly offset w.r.t their base centre line. The prisms are arranged in two mirror symmetrical housing halves joined by a pivot axis to provide focussing for both eyepieces. All four prisms are rotatable through small angles above axes parallel to the base centre line. They are driven by control elements controlled by angular acceleration sensors detecting hand-held housing disturbances. ADVANTAGE - Adjustments can be made whilst maintaining acquired image in view using high magnification binoculars.
