The use of 1- or 2-amino-6-n-propylamino-4,5,6,7 -tetrahydro-benzothiazole (as racemate or (-)-enantiomer) (SND 919) 2-amino-6-allyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H- thiazolo(4,5-d) azepine (BHT9201), opt. in the form of acid addn. salts, is claimed for reducing thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in the blood. A single dose of 0.1-1 (0.2-0.5) mg can be administered one or more times daily. USE/ADVANTAGE - For reducing TSH levels in the blood. The cpds. can be used to treat TSH-producing hypopphysenadenoma, TSH regulation disorders and pituitary/thyroid hormone resistance. In an example, tables of SND 919 were given to patients after a light breakfast and 100 ml of water. Four hrs. after a dose of 0.2 and 0.3 mg SND 919, the TSH level was 30% lower than in patients who had been given a placebo. After eight hrs. the redn. was 25% for the dose of 0.2 mg and 33% for the 0.3 mg dose.
