The transfer printing process uses a carrier tape (2) formed in a closed loop around rollers (17, 19, 20, 22). An image pattern, e.g. information, is formed on the outer surface in the form of an ink transfer (7). When in position over a component (4), a heated press (24) can effect transfer. The image on the carrier tape is provided from a print ribbon (12) that passes between rollers (13, 14) over a print head (10). The unit is operated by signals generated from a controller. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simplifies printing onto objects that are not flat. Replaces labelling on products. (5pp Dwg.No.1/2)
