Measuring soundness of hermetically sealed containers - subjecting flexible part to pressure in test chamber and comparing deformation arising from internal pressure

The containers (10), esp. for perishable products, are lead to a test chamber (11) and subjected to a test pressure. The pressure is applied to a flexible part, e.g. a foil lid heat welded to a beaker of plastics material, so that the increase in internal pressure deforms a non-leaky container. The measurement can be by a laser beam and detector and the amt. of deformation is compared with standard. The test pressure is applied to several containers simultaneously, the internal pressure of the chamber being matched for the shortest test time. ADVANTAGE - Accepts containers of various configuration and different contents for high speed testing for leaks.
