A process serves to skive flap-like workpieces made of leather or artificial leather. A skiving machine (10) used for this purpose has a feed roller (15), at least one guide element (13, 14) and a bell-shaped blade (12) for transporting and guiding the workpieces. Servomotors serve to adjust the feed roller (15) and the guide element (13, 14).
