Path or angle measuring system - scans measuring track with sequence of markings, providing specified combinations

The measuring system scans a sequence of markings, which provide different combination on scanning a number of markings dependent on the logarithm of the relevant number. From the combinations are decoded information from each individual markings. The appts., uses a coding, e.g. a measuring track on a code disc. W.r.t. the code disc is movable a scanner and a transmitter of a positioning signal, corresp. to the scanning. The measuring track consists of individual markings, e.g. bits in bright or dark marking, arranged in groups of adjacent individual markings. The latter are combined in a code word by a number of scanners. ADVANTAGE - Facility for absolute measurement using single code track only.
