The time changes of the a.c. voltage in each sub-network, i.e. the field voltage (VF), is compared with the time changes of a reference voltage (VR, VR1) which is the same for all field units. The comparison takes place in the field unit associated with the sub-network concerned. A first difference is formed for the electrical voltage, phase and frequency and transferred to an evaluator (SE). The vaaluator compares the first difference for the first sub-network with the first difference for the second sub-network to form a second difference. This second difference is compared with given limits to devide whether the parallel configuration should be initiated.
