The wire guide arm at the twisting rotor of a double beat twisting machine, such as for mfg. steel cords, is dimensioned so that the ratio of its curve radius to height in each arm is 6:1 to 8:1. The ratio of the arm height to width is 1:3.5 to 1:4.5. ADVANTAGE - The two arms can be placed close together to minimise the free flight curve of the twisted material and give a low air resistance value. They have a low mass and therefore require less robust drive and braking systems.
