Polycondensates (I) with repeating units of formula -(-O-Pc(Si)O-D)n- in the main chain are claimed; Pc(Si) = phthalocyanine residue with a central Si atom; n = 5 or above; D = (D1); 3-5 ring arylene, opt. substd. with Cl, F or 1-4C alkyl; (D2); 1-2 ring arylene, opt. substd. with Cl, F, NH2 or 1-4C alkyl; (D3); 5- or 6-membered N-, O- or S-heterocycle with a conjugated pi-electron system; (D4); -CO-R1-CO- (with R1 = 1-18C alkylene or 6-12C arylene); or (D5); a gp. of formula (I) (with X = -O-, -CO-, -CMe2-, -S-, -SO2- or -CO-C6H4-q(R4)q-CO-; R2, R3, R4 = 1-4C alkyl or Hal; k, m, q = 0 or 1-4; p = 0 or 1). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are useful for the prodn. of moulded prods. (claimed). The invention provides polycondensates with new, quasi-aromatic, axially-centred macrocyclic gps. (I) have the advantageous properties of the polymer type on which they are based (polycarbonate, polyester, polyether or polysulphone), and are useful for the prodn. of fibres, film or antistatic coating materials, and as catalysts, sensors, and electrodes for batteries and photovoltaic cells.
