The refrigerated sales display cabinet has a return air stream (R) directed from the return air channel (17) first into an air suction chamber (2) located above a cold source (1) which is closed at the top and is designed as an evaporator, and then from there into an air inlet chamber (20) which branches from the air intake chamber and runs down at an open inlet side (22) of the cold source (1) to the bottom (19) of the housing (13). From the air inlet chamber the return air stream passes over a wide surface area in a direction (5) horizontally through the cold source whilst a cooling agent is passed in the counter flow (6) through the cold source. The cooled circulating air flow exits on an open outlet side (23) of the cold source opposite the inlet side into an adjoining air outlet chamber (21) and then in this chamber (21) is directed vertically up to the passage opening in the base (16) of the counter bed (11).
