The arrangement for measuring positions on the Earth by measuring the Earth's magnetic field consists of a magnetic field probe with a horizontally mounted annular high permeability element (12), stimulation coils (13-16), corresp. receiver coils (18,19) and a measurement and evaluation device. The annular element is arranged to float but not rotate in a hermetically sealed toroid half filled with liq. The stimulation coils are distributed around the toroid enclosing its circumference. The receiver coils enclose it diametrically. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables high accuracy and reliability measurement of position at minimal cost.
