The display cabinet has a series of shelves (1) and a bottom goods space (3) which projects forwards beyond the front edges of the shelves (1). The front edges of the goods space (3) is provided with a lighting unit (5), the undersides of some or all of the shelves (1) fitted with transparent plates (7) adjacent the shelf front edge, for directing light received from the lighting unit (5) onto the goods below. Pref. a transparent vertical plate (14) acts as an air baffle attached to the front edge of the goods space (3) above the lighting unit (5). -
