(A) In a hypersonic impact projectile has the whole of the interior of the casing (1) filled with the bulk filling (2). The outer casing (1) has only sufficient wall thickness to withstand acceleration forces on firing the projectile and the thermal stresses occurring during flight. (B) In the prodn. of the projectile, the filling comprises hot isostatically pressed powder of heavy material, esp. tungsten, depleted uranium or oher heavy metal. Pref. the outer casing (1) consists of a high strength, sintered, pref. heavy material, pref. high strength sintered steel. The filling (2) and the casing (1) are pref. pre-compacted and, after assembly, subjected to hot isostatic pressing. The filling (2) may consist of two or more separated bodies which are separated by a light, heat and pressure resistant material, pref. high strength ceramic (3). ADVANTAGE - Extremely high energy is transferred to a target and hit probability is improved with minimal or even zero aim allowance computation costs.
