An arrangement for measuring and controlling -the water flowing out of a rain overflow tank contains a measurement device for the throughput measurement region of an outflow pipe and a motorised choke downstream of the device. The outflow tube is unsiphoned. The water level (3) in a static chamber (2) connected to the outflow tube (27) is measured continuously by a device (4a) connected to a controller which varies the cross-section of the measurement tube via a choke so that the level before the tube is always above its top. USE/ADVANTAGE - Accurate measurement and control, according to defined specification of water outflow irrespective of instantaneous rain fall.
