Process is used to produce flexible netting with rectangular meshes uses several warp ribbons at a given parallel gap from each other each with a fringe. Prepd. ribbons are laid in parallel on the reverse of the warp strips, and at right angles to them at given intervals. During mfr., the warp and weft strips are knitted together at the intersection points. The weft ribbons are pref. woven, knitted or Raschel strips, or they can be of non-woven or plastics materials. Each weft strip is at least wide enough to ensure needle penetration while the warp strips are formed. The weft and warp strips have the same width or are of different widths, and can be used as periodically alternating widths for the weft and/or warp strips. The gap between the warp and/or weft strips can be either identical or unequal. ADVANTAGE - Gives netting with accurately dimensioned mesh shapes and sizes, with rapid and low-cost prodn. to give stable and strong netting materials for industrial, agricultural and similar applications.
