The cone (5), mfd. of soft and/or compressible plastic foam and covered with e.g. cotton cloth (13), is fitted over a spike (4) centred in a retaining ring (2) which holds the hollow cylinder (3) of similar material surrounding the cone (5). The spike (4) and ring (2) are rotated in opposite directions by a motor and gearbox housed in the base (1) of the appts. with an on/off switch (16) in the lead (14) to a free plug (15). ADVANTAGE - Glasses of different sizes and shapes can be polished quickly and reliably with alternative cones and cylinders incorporating heating wires.
