Fresh water from a container (11) is boiled in a gravity-fed immersion heater (12) supplying a mixt. of steam bubbles (17) and boiling water (18) which is discharged through a rectifier (19) into the filter (15) above the cup (16). The rectifier (19) is filled with e.g. balls (20) or small hollow cylinders among which the pressure rises as the bubbles (17) are condensed with transfer of condensation enthalpy to the water (18). This flows smoothly as soon as boiling begins. ADVANTAGE - Boiling water supply is quieter and introduction of cooler water at beginning of process is practically avoided.
