The safety arrangement is for the occupant of the middle position of the back seat of a vehicle. It consists of an energy absorbing arm support between the two front seats and a padded transmission tunnel. The support (3) is elongated about its swivel axis (4) towards the back seat (5) such that even when the front seat (2) is fully forward the support still projects far enough back to block the path of the occupant's head (11) or deflect it to the transmission tunnel.
