Container shrink label application method - has hot melt adhesive placed on leading label edge prior to application

The labelling machine is used to place shrink labels onto containers such that the label covers the entire cylindrical container surface. The leading label edge is provided with a strip of hot melt adhesive before it is placed onto the container. A similar strip of hot melt adhesive is applied to the trailing label edge which overlaps the leading edge when the label is installed. The container, which is located between the rotating support plate (22) and a clamp cap (21), is then rotated whilst the label is exposed to a heat source in order to shrink it. During the heating operation, a hinged cover bar (35) which has a pivot location on the rotating platform (30), protects the adhesive locations from being heated. ADVANTAGE - Shrink label installation on cylindrical container has its hot melt adhesive screened against heat exposure.
