Maintenance of optimum temp. in container for microorganism incubation - by using an electrical heating element surrounded by an air gap, controlled by a submerged temp. sensor
After seeding into nutrient liq., a colony of microorganisms is incubated at optimum temp. by convectional heating and circulation from restricted areas in the floor of a thermally-insulating container e.g. of glass or plastic. The container rests on a carrier plate with an aperture into which projects an electrical heating element of narrow shape e.g. a Cu or other metal rod, surrounded by an air gap. One or more such containers may each have external electrical controls to provide the required conditions, in response to a submerged temp. sensor. USE/ADVANTAGE - Optimum temp. conditions are achieved without additional stirrers, vibrators etc.
