The coffee maker includes a water reservoir with a heater and a flow tube directing hot water into a filter contg. coffee powder under which a receptacle is placed. An electrical supply (20) is connected to the primary heater (21) via an on/off switch (8). Hot water flows into the filter until the reservoir is empty. The heater is then disconnected by a level switch (23). Warming elements (22) maintain the coffee temperature. Depending on the quantity the user can select the calorific input required to maintain a desired temp. by a selector switch which operates either one or two heating elements. The second heating element is in parallel with the first element.
