The gauging apparatus for an extruder, and particularly for thermoplastics, has at least one adjustable lip at the outlet end to function together with another lip; it has also at least one device fixed to part of the machine and acting on the first lip so as to adjust it under the control of a setting arrangement. This latter arrangement has a cylinder system operated by (in particular) pressurised liquid and a pump.
