Key removal from a vehicle steering lock is prevented by a locking element (5), meshing with the lock barrel (2). A bridge piece (7), to which the locking element is fitted, pivots the latter from its locked to a key release position. Support surfaces (13,17,18) are provided on the bridge piece for a blocking button and a blocking element connected to an automatic gearbox selection lever. Either or both of these blocking devices, which allow or prevent pivoting of the bridge piece, may be incorporated. USE/ADVANTAGE - Vehicle steering lock with key removal prevention system is suitable for both automatic and manual gearboxed vehicles.
