An intermittent drive consists of an elastic wheel (2), which, in certain zones, is brought into torque-transmitting contact with a rigid wheel (1) by an intermittent drive generator (5). One of the cooperating surfaces between the elastic and rigid wheels has toothed sections (4). The opposing surface (3) is formed from a plain layer of elastic material, the teeth being pressed into the elastic layer to provide the intermittent drive.
