The stroke treatment medical equipment (20) is applied to a patient (22) in an invalid bed (24). The cranium (26) of the patient is positioned between the field windings or coils (28,30) generating the magnetic flux. Each coil has at least two windings - one for a.c. and the other for d.c. A full wave rectifier and oscillator are assigned to the a.c. windings. A field sensor arrangement measures the density of the magnetic flux along the predetermined axis. The applied magnetic field can produce a signal to maintain a preselected ratio of frequency to effective flux density and maintain the functioning of the tissue and limit oedema by controlling ion electrolyte balance. ADVANTAGE - Non-invasive.
