Doffer to remove bobbins from stations - loads creel with bobbin holders closer together than bobbin winder interval to save creel space

The doffer, to remove bobbins from a number of stations, with a carrier to place the full bobbins in a creel, has a creel with a smaller bobbin holder interval than the winder spacing. The bobbin carrier system, on the doffer, has a movement component parallel to the line of the machine and advances in steps which are a whole multiple of the difference between the bobbin winder and creel spacings. The bobbin conveyor can also be moved vertically, and a number of bobbin holders in the creel are arranged in vertical rows with a fixed vertical interval between them, and a number of such rows are arranged next to each other along the line of the winding machine. The holders of neighbouring rows are displaced by one-half of the vertical interval. The holders are spindles extending to the front of the creel towards the machine. ADVANTAGE - The appts. gives a creel which can hold the required number of bobbins, but in a restricted space.
