The method involves removing a fiber bobbin creel and a head without braking flexible tubular connections i.e. transporting tube connections, between the creel and the head simultaneously using a base station (10). A new fiber bobbin creel (6) and a new head (7) are reloaded with the tubular connections in place by the base station, where the base station is arranged in a manner to receive the head and creel in a position sensibly identical to a position of the head and the creel when the head and the creel are placed on the machine. An independent claim is also included for an installation for changing a head on a fiber positioning machine.
