Disc-shaped filters used in automatic laboratory measuring and test equipment employ filter inserts which must be exchanged by hand. The novelty is that the filler insert consists of a gas or fluid-permeable circular section sepd. from the surrounding impermeable material by an impermeable margin. The permeable and impermeable regions are mfd. of the same natural or synthetic fibre, the impermeable region and margin being rendered impermeable by the application of a foil, seal or heat treatment. USE/ADVANTAGE - The arrangement facilitates the construction and use of filters fitted to strips or larger discs from which may be automatically advanced and thus exchanged in laboratory equipment.
