This device is of the type comprising rods 3 sliding in grooves of the profile 6, forks 9 for actuating the rods, and a fork-actuating mechanism arranged in a housing 2 surface-mounted on the side 7 of the profile. According to the invention, oblong slots 26 pass through the housing 2 and its bottom and, intended for the passage of the screws 8 for fastening this housing 2 to the profile 6, are aligned with one another and with the path of the forks 9 projecting from this housing, but are offset transversely relative to the longitudinal mid-plane of this housing, whilst this housing 2 and its bottom are integral with internally threaded wells 11 which, aligned with one another and with the abovementioned longitudinal mid-plane, are intended for receiving the screws 15 for fastening to this housing a removable cover 12 carrying the member 13 for actuating the mechanism.
