Process for the electrical conversion of hydrogen sulphide, introduced via the pipe 8, to hydrogen and sulphur, by controlled discharges in the post-arc of a plasma torch 1, these discharges being developed between the two anodes A1 and A2 by virtue of the ions and electrons provided by the plasma-producing gas which depart via the injection system 7; the gases formed pass through a filter 14 and a distributor 17 and are withdrawn via the pipes 21 and/or 22. This electrical conversion process is carried out without oxidation of the sulphur which provides harmful products and makes it possible to react the sulphur and hydrogen produced by the conversion with other gases introduced into the reactor.
