The invention relates to a metal case containing an electrical and electronic apparatus having a microprocessor, intended to manage as automatically as possible the safety and alarm means on board land-based transporters of dangerous materials. The device is connected to external sensors which inform the microprocessor of the physical and chemical phenomena relating to the risks presented by the transported load, as well as to visual, audible and radio means for alerting the driver of the vehicle and third parties. The case includes 12 push buttons for giving instructions to the microprocessor and 12 diode lamps whose illumination informs the driver about warnings relating to the vehicle and to the transported load. Inscriptions in front of each button and lamp indicate the particular function thereof. The case may also include a luminescent flat screen as well as a flat keyboard with 12 keys for communicating with the microprocessor. It includes 2 locks, one which may or may not activate the microprocessor, the other controlling a "dead-man's" safety device and the running of the engine, either mechanically or by computer coding. It also contains a back-up electrical power supply. It can actuate an alarm device by a coded radio transmission. It is intended to be installed on board vehicles transporting dangerous materials, including chemical, radioactive, inflammable, explosive and toxic products.
