Process for the preparation of nonionic surface-active products by reaction of a carboxylic acid with 1,2-isopropylidene-3- epoxypropylglycerol, according to the reaction scheme: IMAGE where R1 is a C8-C30 aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or alkylaryl radical and n denotes a whole or decimal number from 1 to 10.
