The present invention relates to a method for supplying alloy elements to the skin of a continuously cast metal product, consisting in incorporating the said alloy elements in the covering powder added onto the meniscus during casting. The invention also relates to a covering powder containing in pure form or in the form of alloys at least one addition element capable of passing into solution in the liquid metal. The invention applies to the continuous casting of metal products, particularly made from steel.
