The method consists in measuring the radiation pattern of the directional antenna and rotary of interrogation of the secondary radar surveillance and to compare the result of the measurement and setpoint values. The measurement is performed by means of a high frequency signal generator constituted by a transponder of the test is placed in proximity to the secondary radar surveillance and interrogated in the majority of the orientation directions of the antenna of an interrogation by means of a particular configuration of the pulses emitted by the antenna virtually omnidirectional control. The particular configuration of the pulses can be formed of a pair of successive pulses, the second pulse of the pair being a pulse of elimination of the responses to requests by the secondary lobes.
