P A combination intended to give the skin a coloration similar to the coloration resulting from a natural tan, characterized in that it comprises: a) a component (A) containing in a medium suitable for topical application, dihydroxy acetone; and b) a component (B) containing in a medium suitable for topical application, an indole derivative having the formula: ## STR3 ## wherein R 1, R 2, R3, R4 denote, independently of one another, hydrogen or a C1-C4 alkyl group, with the proviso that when R4 represents a C1-C4 alkyl group, R1, R2, R3 denote hydrogen, as well as addition salts of these compounds; BR/ the components (A) and (B) being part of the same composition or intended to be mixed just before use, or to be applied successively or shifted in time. / P
