The invention relates to decorative arts and to relief painting compositions characterised in that they comprise: at least one constituent (A) chosen from (i) an oil paint and (ii) a gouache; at least one constituent (B) chosen from (i) a gum solution, (ii) an adhesive, and (iii) a varnish; (C), linseed oil when the constituent (A) consists only of gouache; and (D) ox gall. Application to the production of paintings.
