2,4-dihalogeno-6-pyridylethanolphenylisopropylamines for shifting the protein-fat ratio of animals in favor of protein, of the formula ##STR1## in which Hal are identical or different and represent fluorine, chlorine or bromine,PPX represents a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 -- andPPY represents phenyl, which is substituted by OH, C. sub.1-4 -alkoxy, C.sub.1-4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1-4 - alkoxy, carboxyl, aminocarbonyl, C.sub.1-4 -alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxy-C.sub. 1-4 -alkoxy, C. sub.1-4 -alkoxycarbonyl-C.sub.1-4 -alkoxy or phenyl-C.sub. 1-4 -alkoxy, PPor their physiologically tolerated salts.
